The ophmo case
A mobile eye clinic by Glaucare®
A global issue
The World Health Organization estimates that 2.5 billion people worldwide lack access to essential ophthalmological services. Without timely diagnosis and treatment, conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and eye infections can lead to blindness. This problem is especially severe in regions with a critical shortage of eye care professionals, a reality faced by many underserved areas across the globe.
This is where the ophmo case makes a difference - offering a portable and accessible solution to deliver eye care to even the most remote communities.
The size of a carry-on luggage
Weighing at 7.5kg, the case contains an oDocs nun, a portable slit lamp, a tonometer, a blood pressure monitor, a blood glucose monitor, a visual acuity display board, relevant accessories, and an iPad with an installed app (or PDF form).
How it works
Medical assistants or clinicians would triage the rural-based patients and conduct individual tests using tools in the case. These patients often have little to zero medical records due to the lack of access to healthcare in these regions. The compiled data on forms filled in by the examiner can be sent to an eye clinic for further diagnosis and for the patient to receive necessary treatment. Aside from ophthalmological care, medical information gathered using this case could be integrated as part of their medical records long term.
